Managing Privacy in The Private Sector: New Strategies For Compliance

If so, then this workshop is designed for you!
Dealing with privacy and access to information issues for the first time can be bewildering. First of all, the number of laws, standards, and jurisdictions in Alberta, Canada, and beyond the borders that you may encounter can be mind-numbing. But beyond this challenge, privacy compliance often forces you to look at and deal with information in your organization in a new way.
This workshop provides the basics of legislation and practices for implementing privacy and access programs in both private sector and government agencies in Alberta. You will be able to step back and get the big picture about how access and privacy works in our society and move in close to examine current “hot issues” and examples that you can apply to your own situation.
THE WORKSHOP WILL COVER:
- Privacy and access legislation and jurisdictions and how you fit in
- Comparative summary of collection, use, disclosure, security and access to information rules, including FOIP, HIA, PIPA, and PIPEDA
- Basic risks and strategies for information security, access requests, and information management
- Assessing your own privacy and access practices
- The half-day session is highly interactive and will make use of scenarios, examples and participants' input to enhance the learning experience.
