Acknowledgement

Located at the “meeting point” of the Bow and Elbow rivers, the City of Calgary has been a place of cultural importance for time immemorial.

In the spirit of respect, reconciliation, and truth, we acknowledge that the land on which we gather today are the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Nations Confederacy, which include the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations. We acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney-Nakoda First Nations, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Goodstoney First Nations, and the Métis Nation of Alberta districts 5 & 6, and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.

We make this acknowledgement with respect to the original caretakers to this land. We offer this act in recognition of the enduring connection of the First Nations peoples to these territories, whether we reside or are visitors here.
