With a background across all facets of the information management field, including archives, libraries, and records management, Mieke draws from a breadth of experience to guide her approach to information management challenges. An advocate for the value information governance can provide organizations, Mieke believes in developing solutions that bridge a positive user experience with compliance. She brings a genuine passion for the field to everything she does and her natural curiosity means she is constantly honing her knowledge as the discipline continues to evolve.
Prior to joining Cenera, Mieke spent time developing and progressing information management and access and privacy programs at both a small and large municipalities and is familiar with the constraints and opportunities of working in both sizes of organizations. She has implemented a corporate-wide EDRMS, managed digitization projects, and is adept at all things SharePoint. In access and privacy, she has developed routine release processes, managed large access request response, completed PIAs, and led tabletop exercises for responding to breaches.
In addition to her technical knowledge, Mieke has an eye for process improvement and experience with project coordination and business analysis. She has a Masters of Library and Information Science degree, as well as accreditations as a Certified Information Professional (CIP) and as an Information Governance Professional (IGP). Prior to pursuing her Information Science degree, Mieke completed a BA and MA in Art History and worked briefly in the museum and public history sector.
